Until the advent of the word-processor, members of the Chancery Bar were the obvious port of call for difficult and complicated legal drafting in relation to company, partnership and private client transactions. Those legal drafting skills have not been lost.

For transactions which differ from the norm or which involve large sums of money, it may be easier and less expensive to instruct a Chancery Barrister using the Licensed Access Scheme or Barrister Public Access Scheme than a Solicitor of comparable experience.

Alternatively, a Solicitor may find it easier and less expensive to instruct a Chancery Barrister to provide the legal documents for such a transaction than to draft such legal documents in house.
